The Grade 12 Accounting course is intended primarily for students who wish to pursue further post-secondary business education. After briefly reviewing fundamental accounting concepts and principles, students will begin an in-depth study of generally accepted accounting principles, financial accounting procedures and analysis of accounting data. The use of accounting as a decision-making tool will be emphasized.

This course focuses on the core skills and concepts required to manage a small business. Students will deal with various aspects of operations management, such as inventory, marketing, financial issues, communication, and human resources. Students will also explore the challenges facing small businesses, including hiring and training, motivating employees, and complying with legal requirements.

Organizational Studies: Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources |

Prerequisite: Any university, university/college or college preparation course in Business Studies or Canadian and World Studies This course focuses on ways in which organizations deal with issues affecting their competitiveness in a changing technological and global business environment. Students will analyse various leadership techniques and study various issues such as ethics in business, social responsibility, management of group dynamics, uses of information technology, workplace stress and conflict, motivation of employees and globalization. Students will also investigate the management of a diverse workforce within an organization and the importance of strategic planning.

This course is a continuation of the skills and concepts developed in grades 10 and 11. The focus is on programming and the development of software engineering principles. The majority of the work in this course is project based. Students spend a lot of their time working independently and developing software projects after they have developed a sound foundation based on computer programming fundamentals. Students will learn to implement data structures and algorithms, use file management techniques, and implement software development practices. The primary programming languages will be Java, Visual Basic, PHP, and Flash Action script.

This course provides students with the opportunity to develop the information technology skills and knowledge required in a business. Students will learn about the information technology work environment, use industry-standard software, conduct electronic research, investigate electronic business, and explore occupations and postsecondary programs that require information technology skills.
